DAFT planners on Wokemoreland Council have STOPPED hundreds of people opening their windows on a massive new estate.
The council is worried that noisy passing trains might DAMAGE residents’ health; causing them to SUE.
Housebuilder Persimmon Homes has been forced to install NON-OPENING windows in certain rooms on the 229 home development near Penrith, and says it’s putting off potential purchasers.
One new owner said having sealed-up windows was more of a fire risk.
Others said their tellies drown out any noise of trains. Some new house buyers are switching rooms that they sleep in, so they can have a window open at night in hot weather.
Last week, Persimmon Homes trudged back to Woeful & Farcical Council hoping that pig-headed planners might allow normal windows to be put in.
The developer argued that grown adults should be able to CHOOSE whether to keep windows open or closed.
But the plea fell on DEAF ears and councillors on the eight-member planning committee SIDED with their own officers – voting 6 to 2 to keep the non-opening windows in place.
FACT: Eden Local Planning Committee has a Liberal Democrat majority. The party has five councillors to one Labour, one Conservative and one Independent.
Basically, whatever the Lib Dems want or don’t want always gets passed.
In this case, commonsense has clearly gone OUT of the window.
