DAFT comparisons are being made between Margaret Thatcher and Kemi Badenough.
Yet the latter’s historic leadership win on Saturday has barely registered on the Conservative clapometer in Cumbria.
On social media, only two of the county’s FIVE constituency associations bothered to welcome the party’s new leader.
(They were Carlisle, and Barrow and Furness).
Tory party associations in Penrith & Solway; Whitehaven & Workington, and Westmorland & Lonsdale, all apparently had better things to do.
Also in sleep mode since the result is the Cumbria Conservatives’ Facebook page.
Former Cumbrian Tory MPs, Simon Fell and John Stevenson, were also washing their hair.
Among the few Conservatives marking Kemi’s win was former Workington MP, Mark Jenkinson.
So too was the man ‘Jenky’ ousted from Penrith and Solway, Dr Neil “The Euthaniser” Hudson.
Hudson is no doubt boring the arse off everyone in his new constituency by reminding them he’s Parliament’s Only Vet™.
It’s little wonder there’s leadership fatigue in Cumbria’s diminishing Conservative circles.
Kemi Badenoch is their SIXTH leader in EIGHT years.
Over the same period, fallen footballing giants Manchester United have also had six coaches and similar unrest among supporters.
