RORY Stewart, the former Penrith & the Border Tory MP, is counting the cost this week of his suicidal overconfidence in Kamala “the laughing hyena” Harris.

The old Etonian’s planet-sized ego has crash-landed having spent the run-up to the presidential election foaming at the mouth on Twitter that the Biden administration had been “solid” and Harris would win “comfortably”. (He waged big wonga on her.)
Now suitably unburdened by what might have been, omelette-faced Stewart has been doing a round of humbling media interviews to justify his “piss poor” political astrology.
There won’t be much sympathy for him across his old patch in Cumbria.
Many Conservative ground troops in Eden put in endless hours of leg work for him to win the P&B seat three times in a row.
By way of thanks, he caused an almighty public fuss for the party trying to wriggle out of Brexit – overlooking the fact that his constituents had voted 53.3% to leave.
His political memoirs of last year also included several barbed remarks aimed at unidentified local party figures here.
When not vanishing up his own digestive tract, Stewart clearly holds zero regard for what the “little people” say.
This was a mistake made by the “solid” Biden administration as demonstrated by the seismic backlash in the land of stars and stripes this week.
