BIN FARCE SEES COUNCIL BASHED

THE Chronic has been telling you for some time that when it comes to news from Penrith, there is only one outlet worth reading.

Forget former titan, The Slumberland and Westmoreland Imperilled, the REAL news these days can be found on the Penrith Town website.

Principally because it likes nothing more than putting a ferret up the Council’s trouser leg.

The independent news site proved its superiority this week.

It’s racked up an impressive 170 comments and dozens of angry emojis.

That’s because it properly interrogated the news that Wokemoreland & Farcical Council plans to dick about with the bin collections.

Penrith area residents will see weekly blue bag rubbish collections cut in half to fortnightly and wheelie bins brought in.

The Council is also levying charges for garden waste.

In short, town hall bosses have identified a nice little earner from grandad and his grass clippings.

The seething public, already taxed to the hilt by the Council, piled onto Penrith Town’s Facebook page to read the Council the Riot Act.

Yet far from forcing the Council into a rethink, timid Penrith “newspaper”, The Slumberland & Westmoreland Imperilled, has glossed over the row.

In this week’s edition, the alleged newspaper gave the bin changes a cursory mention in a mealy-mouthed article.

(It read like a cut & paste job from a report penned by a Council officer.)

Had the toothless paper tiger rolled up its sleeves like Penrith Town, it could now be sitting on 170 interactions from readers and a pile of clicks.

The Herald, frequent winners of our Lazy Journalism Awards, doesn’t seem to have the guts or nuts to properly hold the Lib Dem dictatorship to account on behalf of the Taxpaying public.
