CRUMBRIA: 23/05/2025: EXCLUSIVE

By Tara Palmer-Faceplant
OH Lordy.
Certain eyebrows have been tickled here at a media statement sent around to the comics in Crumbria by a top Spinner employed by the Labour MP for Penrith & Solway.
It’s not the remarks about Israel & Gaza that have caused a double take but who they were attributed to.
Instead of coming from Nice Guy Markus, the statement about Israel’s “bullying” was shared by his team but attributed to his dad, the genial Lord Dale Campbell-Savours of Allerdale.
My newsroom spy has now huffed about the “Campbell-Favours!”
“MP’s official team paid for by public funds sending out press releases for members of the House of Lords!” moans my man-in-the-know.
We’re sure this enterprising use of PR, while not widespread in the Lords, is all relatively harmless and perfectly above board.
Although hands up all those who knew that an MP’s staff resources could be put to use by members of the House of Lords.
The apple clearly doesn’t fall far from the ermine!
Perhaps Spinners working for Stephen Kinnock MP send around press statements on behalf of Lord Neil all the time.
But the Penrith MP is a strictly by-the-book man and hopefully, the rules won’t require a screeching retraction of the statement.
If you can’t get your top comms woman to help snag the old geezer a bit of publicity, what can you do?
We await an update from what the family goldfish thinks about white genocide in South Africa.
