CRUMBRIA: 25/05/2025
LIKE all good political Spin doctors, Carlisle MP Julie Minns clearly thinks the public are idiots.
Asked by obedient young hacks on the News & Scar about Keirnocchio’s possible winter fuel allowance rethink, the MP shamelessly insisted that it’s a clear sign that the UK economy is recovering under Labour and therefore conditions are right for a possible reappraisal of the benefit cut.
The “newspaper” allowed her to spin this screeching U-turn as a sign of the Government’s economic progress.
The Starmer Mad House promised all along it would deliver stability.
What could be more stable than a cold-hearted benefit cut, getting ‘banjoed’ for it all winter, and then faintly mumbling about tweaking it a bit in the summer after a collapse in the local elections?
So older people might possibly get something, sometime soon, maybe this winter, providing the economy behaves itself?
Shame on the Carlisle tabloid for wimping out and not pressing the MP to support a full return of the winter fuel allowance.
The dying if not dead title characterised these developments in Downing Street as a “partial U-turn!”
(Partial U-turn achieves full spin!)
Thankfully, the paper’s dwindling readership aren’t complete morons and its online comments section – never the most reliable measure of public sanity – soon filled up with contributors refusing to swallow the paper and the city MP’s posturing.
One said: “So announcing the cut then making a u-turn after massive council election defeats equals ‘stability’? In whose deluded world?”
Another added: “Pretty desperate, poor, and an unbelievable attempt to gaslight the public yet again by Ms Minns.”
“It’s clear that people voting Reform rather than Labour is the reason for this U-turn by 2Tier,” chirped another.
You need to read the article to believe the brass neck at work.
