FARRON IN A FLAP OVER FLAG

IN what looks suspiciously like a bid for national attention, Cumbrian MP Saint Timothy of Farron has draped himself in the Union Jack within the padded walls of the Lib Dem conference.

Despite two decades as MP for Wokemoreland & Loonsdale, he’s never felt the urge to strike this sort of patriotic pose before.

Is the Reform tail now wagging the Lib Dem dog?

In a speech gloriously true to the Liberal tradition of muddled thinking, Timble declared that the red, white and blue do not belong to any one political party, creed, or race.

He added the rather large caveat that one shouldn’t wave it too enthusiastically, in case someone, er, feels intimidated.

We don’t recall the MP expressing similar sensitivities back in 2017.

That was when he happily wrapped himself in the EU flag after 17.4 million Brits voted to leave it — a banner he waved with gusto while insisting Britain be governed by bonkers Brussels bureaucrats.

Was that not an example of Tim “flying a flag” directly in the faces of people who didn’t like it — in ways strikingly similar to those he now complains about?

That some bed-wetters feel intimidated by the English flag being flown in, er, England, tells you everything you need to know about how crackpot the country has become in this foul year of our Lord 2025.

And given Tim’s bible-thumping views on certain, ahem, ‘relationships’, one can only wonder whether he’ll be draping himself in the Pride flag at next year’s conference to give it the benefit of his unambiguous endorsement?
