PRESS OFFICE LOSES MEDIA TIFF!

YAPPY Council guard dogs have been snapping at the heels of an independent local news website for the crime of, er, not writing about the Council exactly the way the Council would like.

A shadowy press officer at Wokemoreland & Farcical Council recently complained to Penrith Town News about THREE articles published on its website.

(Penrith Town News is the only mainstream media outlet asking the Lib Dem dictatorship awkward questions instead of swallowing their drivel whole. Perhaps that’s what’s irritated the Press Office?)

Penrith Town News proprietor, Jonathan Davies, did not change his stories or cave in like most weak-kneed editors now out there.

Instead, he courageously publicised the Council’s complaints all over Facebook for his 12,00o followers to see!

Free Press supporters weighed in on his side and slammed the Council!

In a stern statement, Mr Davies also reminded the Council that Penrith Town News was “not part of the Council’s communications team” and made no apology for running “hard news rather than fluffy news”.

He added that, unlike all of the other local rags in Crumbria, Penrith Town News does not receive Council advertising or public notice income, and therefore enjoys the freedom that comes with not being financially dependent on the Council.

  • “Good on you, they don’t like people challenging them.”

By exposing the Council’s tactics, the Council has managed to do far more damage to its reputation than any minor word that might have been out of place in the three original articles.

The Press Officer, formerly of the Evening Snail, must be absolutely crimson to see his attempts at “reputation management” backfire in his face.
