WHEN it comes to council highways departments, one adjective that rarely springs to mind is “dynamic”.
Consider how long potholes sit there getting bigger; the length of time it takes roads to be resurfaced or street lights to be replaced.
About as dynamic as roadkill.
But because there’s no Advertising Standards Authority keeping an eye out on bogus claims in the employment market, councils can say what they want when recruiting.
Which is why Wastemoreland & Farness Council is currently lusting after an “agile” traffic manager to join its “dynamic” Highways Department.
Salary? £65,000 a year.

The job description was written up in, er, January 2015, some nine years ago. How’s that for dynamic?
