COUNCIL SIGNS PACT ‘WITH GOD’

THE happy-clappers running Wokemoreland & Farcical Clowncil continue to exist with their heads, literally and metaphorically, in the clouds.

The Lib Dem Council has just signed a “Faith Covenant” to formalise a special new working relationship with, er, religious leaders.

The pact means local Christian groups, Quakers, Buddhists, Muslims and even Bahá’ís, etc., will become more “involved in the delivery of Council services.”

(There’s nowt like chucking staff another political hand grenade.)

Five years ago, lots of people locally told the Census they didn’t follow any religion whatsoever.

34% in South Lakeland
39% in Barrow & Furness
34% in Eden

In fact, once you deduct Christians and non-believers, followers of other faiths make up a miniscule 1.4% of the W&F population.

This didn’t deter the Lib Dem dictatorship.

As we’ve said before, they seem to regard the local authority as the Kendal wing of the UN, rather than a humble emptier of bins or patcher of potholes.

The signing of the pact was deemed so significant that various types in cassocks turned up to flash gnashers for the group photograph.

Also adding her autograph to the pact and beaming for the cameras was Council chief executive, Miranda Cannon-Fodder, paid £188,000 a year.

Let’s hope the new group can send up a collective prayer for dosh: the Clowncil expects to be £40m short in a few years and facing Town Hall bankruptcy.

Back on planet earth, the reaction from bewildered tax payers has not been what you could call Christian.

“WTF is a Faith Covenant?” asked one.

Another pleaded: “Can the Council please fix the bins, potholes and its debt first!”

The Council was also bombarded with questions: Why wasn’t the public consulted? What does the agreement do? Who was included and which religions refused?

Religion and politics, eh?

Who’d have thought they were never going to mix.
