LABOUR-daft Crumberland Council spent nearly £10,000 of taxpayers’ money last summer in a crackdown on Union Jacks and England flags.

The news emerged in a rare outbreak of journalism today by the News & Shrug, Carlisle. (It was swiftly contained before it spread to the rest of the newsroom.)

Naturally, being allergic to follow-up questions, the tanking tabloid neglected to ask the Council: how many flags did £10,000 actually remove?

So Council Taxpayers don’t know how many flags the Council took down or, indeed, if they ended up in a bin.

Last summer’s “unauthorised” demonstration of solidarity in Crumberland was swiftly put down as Council managers dispatched teams of hi-vizzers to restore order.

The speed of the response did not go unnoticed by seasoned council tax payers, many of whom had been under the impression that potholes, weeds and litter might be higher on the list of priorities.

Given that a recently leaked Labour report about community cohesion regarded flying Union flags as a “tool of hate,” the reaction of Labour Councils to dispose of them is no longer surprising.
