WITH Crumbria’s local rags totally not arsed about lifting the lid on life in our town halls – readers of the Chronic are reminded that lazy journalism doesn’t exist everywhere.

Down in Norfolk, newshounds have unearthed a stone-cold scoop.

Ballsy reporters asked their local Council how many of its 7,000 public servants work from home?

The answer back from bosses?

We don’t know. “We don’t keep data on it.”

During the pandemic, 85% of Council staff moved OUT of the office.

Ever since, “flexible and hybrid working arrangements” have prevailed in Norfolk.

Professional excuse makers reckon that allowing staff to dial it in: “Minimises the risk of stress-related illness.”

Given that Labour-daft Crumberland Council has costly office blocks in Carlisle, how empty might they be as considerate staff side-step stress on Monday mornings?

And with the Lib Dem dictatorship of Wokemoreland & Farcical Council spaffing £8.3m of taxpayers’ money on a new ‘eco’ HQ for Penrith, how many of its workforce are at home; possibly practising mindfulness in their Lion King onesies?

We know a lot of staff doing the proper ball-breaking jobs NEVER work from home and have no say in the matter whatsoever.

As for Norfolk Council, the working from home arrangements face a crackdown.

After the May elections, Reform took control – blasting the former Tory leadership into fifth – and promising an urgent review.

Whether their campaign blag makes a shite of difference, only time will tell.
