THERE appears to have been the faintest of ripples on the usually tranquil pond of Reform UK.
The Barrow branch has had to gently encourage certain spirited contributors on its Facebook page from flicking each other’s ears.
In a semi-bollocking about “internal grievances” being aired in public, the branch, er, publicly reminded its 1,300 followers that internal grievances should remain internal.
The formal notice warned that Reform UK’s Central Office would be watching.
It read: “We do not engage in internet culture-war friction…”
(Which must surely come as a surprise to multi-millionaire man of the people, Nigel Farage?)
The message went on:
“Nor do we permit our platforms to be used for unvetted, partisan mud-slinging.”
The note then took on faintly Corbynesque overtones, adding that posts, comments or responses deemed “detrimental to Branch harmony and cohesion” would be “moderated or deleted immediately at the Page administrators’ discretion.”
So it turns out that freeze peach does have a limit.
The Chronic understands that the rollout of the new Facebook rules follows a short period of internal reflection and an ever-so delicate restructure.
The impression given now is of a branch as harmonious as Sesame Street.
It’s not entirely clear how the reprimand has gone down with the broader Reform online community in Barrovia.
Replying to the new Governance notice posted online, one confused follower of its page wrote: “Eh?”
